Problem with nvidia cards. Driver issues?

Hey folks.
I have a problem. I recent bought a Dell 2005 lcd and set up a new system with an old gforce4 ti 4200 along with it. After i installed the latest drivers from nvidia, i had major problems with the video. The video would shake, jitter and freeze, and eventually my whole system would freeze up. This happens on both dvi and analog connections. I tried using a different nvidia card, a different machine and even a different lcd monitor, but always with the same result. Ive narrowed it down to a driver issue because i used the same 66.93 on all my hardware configs and got the same problem. Also, the generic driver from MS works fine. This tells me that something isnt right with the nvidia driver.
Any help/suggestions/solutions would be appreciated.

Try using Drivecleaner? Then reinstall the drivers. Also try out Nvidias Beta Forceware Drivers...71.24 I think is the newest one.
 
Tried driver cleaner, that was a no-go, i still got the same problem.
I'll try the beta drivers, i hope that works.

well, when i had my Ti4200 i used the 53.03 drivers for i don't know how long and i never had any problems....you really don't need the latest drivers for a card like that since it doesn't support any of the new stuff in the more up-to-date ones....oh and if you don't know where to find old drivers, just go to guruof3d.com....
 
Thanks, i tried a few of the older drivers but none worked. :(
I'll try making a fresh installation of windows, maybe i have some software installed thats causin this.
 
Reinstalled windows and with the new installation came a better MS driver, dont know why it wouldnt install before. :rolleyes: It provided the full resolution for the monitor but i still installed the nvidia drivers... once again the problem with the video but this time less servere but might have gotten worse over time. WTF is goin on??? :confused:
