I just finished installing my new Western Digital 200 gb hard drive (im on windows xp if it helps). It is set as the slave to my older Western Digital 80 gb, everything seems to have installed correctly. The only reason i say that is because BIOS and devince manager recognize it and tell me it's running fine.

The problem is that the computer is reading that my hard drive is only 2.1 gb in size!
I went to the Western Digital website and into their knowledge database and they told me it could be that i need:
1. XP service pack 1 or higher to accomodate >137 gb harddrives (I installed the hard drive on SP1 and later installed SP2 to see if that would help, but it didnt work)

or

2. A hotfix for atapi.sys (which i downloaded but it didnt help either)

others forums have not been able to help me and i look to you guys to help me with my bestial hard drive!

Just curious, did you check out the Disk Management tool under Administration Tools? It could be that only 2.1GB of your HD is formatted and ready to go... Make sure its partitioned correctly.

Hope that helps =)

i figured it out and it turned out to be a problem with the jumper

the only thing i have a problem with now is that it is not showing up under My Computer or letting me choose it as a directory for install/downloads, but i can access the drive through explorer
