Problem with my soundcard

I've been having problems with my sb-live 5.1 over the past few days. At first I lost the sound completely and when i went to reinstall the drivers it kept on giving me an "audio device not found" error. So i switched pci slots and the sound card finally got detected and it worked fine for a few days. Today I went to turn my computer on and it wouldn't even boot into windows normally, i had to use safe mode. So I was just like "screw it" and went ahead and reformatted. Now the sound card is detected again and installed properly but I get no sound whatsoever. Any idea what the heck is up with this? Thanks.
 
I ran the creative diagnostics program (when the soundcard was installed in the bottom pci slot) and it found no errors at all. Yet I got no sound at all. I switched pci slots again and I have sound back. Wouldn't be surprised if it messes up windows again...

Why the heck won't my soundcard work in the very bottom pci slot? I'm completely stumped, it was working fine for months in the bottom pci slot.
