Problem with my mx1000

ok, i bought a mx1000 about a week ago from newegg, i absolutely love it, battery life is awesome, precision is great, and the overall feel is the best! one problem, i play star wars galaxies (rpg) and with my old mouse (M$ intellimouse) when i clicked thumb button (back) it would auto-run for me. was very easy to bind keys, click what u want to bind, window comes up in game and then u click the button u want want binded for that function, when i do this with my mx1000 it doesnt recognize any buttons but primary and secondary click. i do have logitechs software installed but cant find anything that would help. can anyone help me out with this?
 
I actually have an answer for you. It doesn't exist, and Logitech does not have any plans to support multi-program key-mapping. here is the official response I received from Logitech.

I understand that you would like to have application specific button assignment for your Logitech MX1000 Mouse.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to have different button assigned to different application. If you want have a specific button assignment in one application and another button in another application, you need need to assign manually when you switch the application. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you. However, I will forward your suggestion to our concerned department to look into the matter.

I have gone ahead and done some basic key-mapping for office tasks. But these obviously will not work for multiple games. And to think that the only suggestion by Logitech is to manually re-map the keys everytime you swap programs. As we know in our recent world we tend to play some games, especcialy MMO's, while running web browsers in the background. This allows for some quick reference. but if you have remapped your keys for the game it won't work right in your web browser.

I just can't believe that all of the reviews for this mouse completely glossed over this glaring obvious issue. I bought this mouse baseed on those reviews to be one of the best gaming mice available. Logitech you missed a step.

Oh, and this issue doesn't just rest with the MX1000, this is with all Logitech mice. I remember reading somewhere that the reason we have crap on-board audio is because reviewers never said anything good or bad about it. This needs to change. I call for all users of Logitech mice to let Logitech know that we need a change. There is a link below for all mahor contacts within Logitech. If anyone can get the CEO's emaila address that would be great. The more people that are aware of this oversight the better.
