I have a 17" HP LCD monitor. When I would use it on my PC the screen will go very dark during hte middle of operation, sometimes. Any idea what the problem is and if I'd have to RMA ? It powers on and gets an image, sometimes it'll go dark and sometimes it wont.

HP Support should allow this to be repaired under their RMA service. ?

Sounds like the backlight is powering down for some reason when it shouldn't be. Laptops generally have a setting for this, but it serves no real purpose on desktops.

My suggestion is to call HP as you said, it sounds defective to me, especially if the change is dramatic. It's probably just some problem with the backlight.
