Problem with mx1000

I just downloaded the new Netscape browser and it's sweet but my mouse doesn't fully function with it. For example I cannot use the back or the forward buttons on the left side of the mouse. They just don't do anything.
 
Is there another program I can use? other than "SetPoint"? also the MX510 has some more convenient controls for the mouse than the mx1000. Is there another program that can make the mx1000 do the same thing?
 
My back/forward buttons work on FireFox. Did you install the Logitech software?
 
set the back and forward buttons in setpoint to "generic button" and it should work just fine
