Problem with Mitsubishi 2070 - Help Please.

I have a Mitsubishi 2070. It's about two years old and I've been struggling with an intermittent problem for about a year. That problem is a shimmering effect that persists no matter what I'm looking at (desktop, game, video). It comes and goes, but has gotten progressively worse. It's the entire screen that affected, not just certain parts.

I've done a number of things to fix it and I'm sure it's the monitor and not the video card because I've completely swapped computers with it. No difference. Power strip vs. wall plug in. No difference. New monitor cable. No difference.

I'm stumped. Anyone else seen anything like this? Is it the beginning of the end already for this monitor?

I had something like that happen on a Viewsonic CRT flatscreen (I forgot what model, sorry). Eventually it just died. Hope that helps
 
I have a 2060 which I am retiring...do you see sort of a wavy display?
 
My 2141SB gets bright or dim for a fraction of a second and returns to normal.....Did it start as something like this as well? This rarely happens....maybe a couple times a month. I was thinking it was some sort of self adjustment because I noticed it moves the screen up or down about a pixel height depending on which side of the room it is facing.
 
Thanks for the quick responses. In answer to the follow-up questions....

I've always had a hard time describing the problem to tech support, but yes, it could be called wavy..... maybe. I used shimmering to describe it in this post, but really, it's more like fuzziness. It's almost like someone it's going in and out of focus. When it first started, I could only notice it on a white screen with black print, and it was there and gone and would only happen once a week. I actually squinted my eyes because I thought maybe I had been staring at the monitor too long. Now, I can notice it when playing games, it's much more pronounced and it may last for 1 to 2 hours straight. There were brief periods where it would snap back into focus, however, the majority of the time it was very fuzzy.

With regard to the lighting question. No it doesn't seem to get brighter or dimmer. Just the fuzziness. It

Oh how I hate the thought of sending this thing in for warrenty repair. Must be a 60-70 monitor!! I'm also afraid that when it arrives for repair, it'll work just fine and they'll ship it back untouched.

I finally sent my Mitsubishi 2070sb in for repair based on the symptoms described above. Basically, the display had become fuzzy over the 2-year I owned it until the point it was very bad.

I received my monitor back from repair and was thrilled to see it fixed. It was a beautiful sight and made me realize how bad it really was. They replaced the power supply and that did the trick.

Now, about a month later it's gone fuzzy again. And all of a sudden too. I hate the thought to send this beast in again, but that's going to be the only course of action.

Is there something smoking my power supply on the monitor or another component going bad or something?

Have you tried repositioning or relocating the monitor? I have NEC 2141 that was doing that "shimmering"... moved it a few feet to another location and that seemed to fix it. I never bothered to figure out the source of the interference though...
