Ok i have problem with my GPU (ASUS Radeon 9600XT) which i recently bought.Whenever i start any game or 3d application the GPU just stutters, hangs and the computer reboots. This only happens when running any 3d-App else everything keeps working perfectly fine. The thing is that i have a very cheap and low-quality power supply and it seems to me that the PSU is not giving enough power to the GPU so it can render anything on screen except 2-D images and stuff. So am i right about the PSU or could it be the GPU or something else? Is there any way to check and confirm that the problem is with a PSU before throwing out money on a new PSU?

Regards,
FuRy

makes sure your temperatures are fine.. could be overheating?

Could have a problem wit the card.. Check all the settings and make sure there right check connections and make sure there all in right... Then restart and run the app.. and see what happens if it happens I would say you have a bad card

Does the 9600xt have the power cable that needs to be plugged in?

Fury from TWC?
well, anyway how much power does your PSU have?

No it doesn't cause I had one from HIS and it didnt have one.. Bro i'm telling you check all your setting and connections you might just have a bad card.. Post your set-up... Let me see what you got.. I don't think your PSU is a problem.. Depends on what you have..

can you make suree your fan is running? sometimes that is the problem, I know my old 9600 had that issue and it went away when I bought a new cooler for it.

Fans or Heat are definately not the problem cause the card is very cool and ma side panel's open all the time.........

try it in another computer if you are able, if you get same results chances are the card is just bad.

Restarting with 3d, in my experience, typically is the sign of a toasted card in desperate need of an RMA :(

Doesnt a toasted card dont even boot up?

Not necessarily. My 9550XT was cooking like a mofo and would work fine just as long as I stuck to non-3d apps.
