I am having a very annoying problem with hl2. I am running a bfg 6800 gt oc, 1gb ram corsair maxtor 160gb hd, creative soundblaster audigy 2 zs, abit ic7 max3 motherboard, p4 processor at 3.3 ghz. I am having a in game crash where the screen just turnes black on me and gives me a looping sound and freezes to where i have to push the power button on my computer to reboot it to get out of it. I have downloaded all latest drivers for all hardware and moved the sound card up and down the pci slots. Nothing has worked i don't know what else to do any information or help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I had this same problem with bfv and COD. The way I fixed it is I downgraded my drivers (ati 9600xt). Fixed it right up. Not sure if this will help you, but just a thought.

I get that looping sound too sometimes. Sometimes its short, and game will come back, sometimes its longer but the game still comes back.
 
turn down the audio hardware accleration in your speaker seting
