Problem with HighPoint 2300 Card

Ok just bought a the 2300 Highpoint and its giving me major problems

im using a MSI K8N Diamond Plus, using the onboard raid controller on a raid zero config

when i plug the highpoint card into my pci-e slot it the system will not boot

(probably because its looking at that card to load the OS from)

but when i try to get into BIOS to get the configs the system locks up..... highpoint tech support is nearly impossible to get ahold of.

any help?
 
I own neither your RAID card nor the motherboard, but here's how I'd approach the problem:

initial test that may be a quick solution: DISABLE the onboard RAID controller (via jumper if possible), i.e. the Silicon Image controller. See if that allows you to get into the BIOS.

if that does not work:

  • Minimize the amount of devices in the system: Video card, CPU, RAM and maybe a CD-Rom for a Linux live CD.
  • disable all/ any ports that you do not need (Serial/ PATA etc.)
  • disable "extras" in the BIOS.
  • get a PS/2 keyboard
Boot with that minimal config into the linux live cd. If that works, add the RAID card. Try booting. If that does not work, start swapping the raid card into a different PCIe slot. If you cannot get it to work in this minimal setting, there is little chance that it'll work ever. Then again, there may be an easy fix. *shrugs* google is your friend :)
