when i go to install xp on my friends computer, its fucked up. when i go to boot, itll freeze and ill hear the cd drive spin up, but the screen stays black. its set to boot from cd rom in his bios, and i can see everythinbg start up. could his mother board be dead or broken?
 
Is the CD scratched at all??? Does the CDrom run anyother cds, I know PMagic, and Norton are bootable. You can make a bootable cd and try that.
 
see what happens when u take out the CD, if the same problem then perhaps you have an overheating issue
