Problem with Folding

Ok, I think this happened becuase I just put in a new mobo and processor. I re-installed WinXP and all my apps including Folding. Then Folding gets done with it's current job and I sign on the internet to get it to download it's results and update with a new project. What happens is, the animation comes on and it starts counting in the "waiting for core" section, I left it on last night and it's counting over 1000 and I've only been getting 400 step cores. I've tried to turn it off and back on and each time it does the same thing all the while in the bottom corner it says trying to access server but isn't it talking to the server while it's going through all these core steps. Any idea on how to fix this??

same thing happened to me...Windows firewall is blocking it...add winfah to the exceptions list and then restart the client and you should be set.

Well, that didn't work I'm using Zone Alarm free version. FAH was already listed with permission and I added permission to use it as a server and it's still counting individual cores but it's no longer "trying to connect". So now what? Re-install?

go to c:\program files\folding@home
you will see a FAHlog.txt

copy in here the last part of that.

There's an FAHlogprev and an FAHlog2.

Are you set to timeless? I'm pretty sure that there aren't any timeless units available right now still. Only nasty small gromacs of the 76x variety! Where's a vomit smiley when I need one!

You mean Dealinless? Yes, I've got it set on Deadlineless, should I take that off? Also, what does "Disable highly optimized assembly code" mean?

it has to be a firewall issue...try turning off zone alarm and windows firewall and restart the client...that should narrow it down...and yes...you want deadlines and you DONT want to disable assembly code.

Ok, I took off deadlineless and restarted the client and it's now downloading a WU. Thanks for all the help gang!!
