So heres my situatoin. I think I might have goofed.

I built a new system and I bought a nice Radeon HD 5770 Card. It has dual DVI, HDMI and a display port. I bought two 21.5" LCD monitors (1080p, DVI, VGA and HDMI) and im also using a 3rd screen (which is a 32" LG, 1080p, has VGA, Compojnent, HDMI, usual).

Well i thought i could just hookup the two 21.5" as dvi, which i did, and then my LG tv as HDMI and have 3 displays, but no good.

Now im reading that in order to do 3 displays, i need to use the display port??? is this so? Anyway around that or any converters?

I read the little Display port to DVI don't work with eyefinity and i may need a $100 box? Little help is appreciated.

I just bought the LCD monitors, not sure if NewEgg will take em back... but maybe and i can get display port monitors (id have to get 2 new ones so they match)...

Help me please, lol

Of the 3 output, one must be a displayport. Perhaps AMD need to do this to promote their Displayport they are pushing.

Oh, it must be a ACTIVE DP to DVI adapter.

http://www.directron.com/apdpvga.html that was suggested to me, i bought it, and it works great. select priority for cheaper shipping. Only downside is one monitor will have to be hooked up with a vga cable rather than dvi, but i dont care, it saves $70.

Yeah id rather not use VGA. I did run a VGA cable to my tv, but its not hooked up, its behind the wall, i went with HDMI.

I think for what im doing, i should just buy a $35 video card that has DVI/VGA and HDMI on it, and use that for my 32" tv... as its just a monitor im using for documents/etc... im not gaming on it... IF i do game, it'll be on the main 21.5" which are hooked up to the 5770... does that sound like a logical idea?

Yes, you have to use the display port. However, you have several options:

1) Buy a monitor with display port input
2) Buy an active DP->DVI adapter ($100) - something like this: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=330-5521
3) Buy an active DP->VGA adapter ($30-40?). I'm not too familiar with these.

I have a business account with Dell, i also have a team of sales people who give me quotes... i'll email them see what they can sell me that display port for, it'd be my easiest solution
