Problem with dual 6870s, experiences?

I built a machine for a friend about two weeks ago:

i5-760 @ 3.8ghz, corsair h70 cooling it
gigabyte p55a-ud4p (1 16x slot, 1 8x slot for pci-e)
8gb corsair memory not oced
dual sapphire 6870s not oced
corsair 850tx

Three days ago the machine started BSODing on restarts. Then when it would get to windows his resolution would be wrong, and logging out and logging in would fix it. Now he called me today and he said it has no display at all.

Anyone had a sapphire 6850 or 70 go out already? He made no mention of artifacts. I was pretty cofident in all the other components that went into that machine, having used them before.
