I started having problems with my creative card recently, and i tried to uninstall the drivers and then reinstall from the cd. unfortunately it wont let me do that giving me some error in the middle of uninstall and never finishing. if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

i have a soundblaster audigy ES 5.1, model # sb0160. which consequently isnt even listed on the creative driver download site. but anyway, initially the software that was installed with the card (like the creative audio hq and surround mixer) dissappeared somehow from my computer. so i tried to uninstall and then reinstall the drivers. but when i tried to uninstall this message popped up:

"error number: 0x80040201
description: an event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers
setup will now terminate"

and this message shows up no matter how i try to uninstall (through the cd or add/remove programs) plus i can't run the repair option either on the first installshield screen. also the sound blaster audigy listing on my add/remove programs list will not remove. i still have the installation cd. any suggestions to try and fix this problem?
 
What OS?

I would run drivercleaner to remove all of the old stuff and then attepmt a reinstall.
If that doesn't get you anywhere it may be time to format. ;)

I have had problems with creative sound cards many times and evertime i would try and unitstall/reinstall the card it would still be there(the problem that is) the only thing i found that worked each time was a full winXP reinstall
