Problem with Coolit Eliminator

Recenty purchased a Coolit Eliminator from CompUSA. Everything was working fine for about 3 days and now I'm having some issues so I'm hoping someone can help or give me some suggestions.

Here is my system specs
EVGA 680i
E6600 8x437.5 3500mhz @ 1.33v
TWIN2X2048-8500C5D 875 @ 2.1v 4-3-3-6-6
EVGA 8800GTX
WD2500YS x 2 Raid 0
Plextor 716SA
WinXP

Here is the issue:
Temps were running at 28-30 idle and 48-50 load
now the temps are running about 10 degrees higher on both.

I've remounted the water block and added a faster fan(160cfm) with a controller to help but the temps are still high. I lowered the cpu speed so I didn't damager anything.

I'm thinking the thermostat is manfunctioning but I'm a novice at water cooling and TEC.
Any ideas?
 
Yeah man, what ecletic said. If your configuration is good, then everything should be alright. I am assuming your vcore is not cranked to the point where your coolit is just keeping it from exploding, that the block is mounted cleanly with a paper thin coating of TIM, and that there are no kinks, etc.

I think the Elimnator is pulling air through the rad with the tec blocks doing most of the cooling. I haven't looked at the Eliminator closely. So if everything is nicely setup then you'll want to crank up the potentiometer. I may be stating the obvious to you, but on the little pcd, you'll see a little white recessed dial. Get a jewler's screwdriver and play with the settings, and monitor temps. Of course, the delta T's won't be stantaneous so see how the settings affect the temps over time. However, cranking it p all the way will most likely make that thing loud.

Good luck. Oh, if it is just a pull config on the rad, can you add an extra fan to push it though? It might help. I don;t know why Coolit doesn't use 120s on that thing instead of 92s. Damn, another idea. If you have a shroud lying around or some type of standout, I would maybe ty to make a space between the Elim. Unit and maybe attached it to a 120, so

Elim with 92mm fan ---> standoff/shroud --> 120mm fan -> case
 
There's actually no radiator in a Freezone or Eliminator, just a big old regular heatsink. The water tubing lines are hooked up to small metal resevoirs, and the cold side of the TECs are on one side of the resevoirs. The hot side of the TECs are attached to an air cooled heatsink. So the metal heatsink is responsible for cooling the hot side of the TECs AND the heat load from the water. Which in my experience with the Freezone, it cannot really keep up.

It's best to think of the Freezone/Eliminator as a water chiller system, one that is TEC based and air cooled. It's not very powerful or efficient - ask anyone who's used one of those small TEC based aquarium chillers.

If you look at the Freezone/Eliminator it's obvious why 92mm fans are used - the heatsink is approximately the size of a 92mm fan, and the resevoirs (or fluid heat exchangers, as CoolIT calls them) are attached to the sides of the heatsink. If a 120mm fan were used, a bigger heatsink would be required, pushing the resevoirs further to the sides (they stick out around 1/4"), which would prevent the side panels fitting in most cases.
 
Well I yanked the cooler out and dismantled it so I could check out the pcb. I could see anything burnt or otherwise. Slapped it all back together and started the computer up and its running cool again. I haven't loaded the system but the idle temps around 24-28c at 3.5ghz(8x437.5). The only thing I did when putting it back together was untuck the tec wires from around the waterpump... maybe some interferrence there.

Just an update on my Eliminator endeavor. Since my last response the cooler is back to running high temps. My system is no longer overclocked and I'm be reinstalling the old cooler soon. I have talked with Coolit Systems and they wanted me to send them some pictures of the thermal control module and said they would be sending me a new one. I've been waiting 3 days now for a response from them though. While surfing I have found a couple other people with the same issue on other forums. :eek:
