I'm currently running a amd 1800+ and it all started a little after installing a new seagate 120 GB drive. I noticed that after running for a a half-hour that my computer would start to lock up off and on. So I unplugged the harddrive to see if that was the problem, but it did it again. While looking at my computer I did notice that my geforce3 fan was dying and I figured I would try pulling it out and putting in an old radeon 32 ddr card in (I also plugged the harddrive back in). After doing that flip the problem was fixed for the time being and I assumed it was my video card having problems(after all the card was bought brand new over a year ago).
So I ended up ordering an AIW 98 pro and it just came in yesterday. I threw the card in and and soon after started up 3Dmark (had to see what it could do), but before I finished it started to lock up again. Now, my machine will run fine for hours on end until I try running something graphically intensive (like 3Dmark or UT2k3). I had one thought of it perhaps being a power problem as I'm only running a 300W (with 2 cd drives, 2 harddrives, and ect), but I found this not to be an issue.
I'm thinking it could be a heat issue, but I have yet to really test that. A friend of mine also suggested testing the ram, which I plan on once I'm off work here.
