Problem with channel sound

I was playing a movie with windows media center last night and
I had the speakers setup for 5.1. The problem is with the set of
creative speakers I have the rear channels barely get any sound of of
them because they are amped weak and it's been a known problem since
I bought them *sigh* So it started to do part of the movie in the rear channels only
as part of the Dolby Digital effects and I couldnt hear it. I had to revert my setup back to 2 channel sound in order to play the movie properly. Is there software out there or a way to increase the volume of those channels in particular? I feel like i have more of a 3.1 setup Front Left, Center, Front Right, and subwoofer, and then two little speakers that take up space.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. I am in the market for a new set of speakers and any Home theatre recommendations will go to great lengths for me.

If you were using software such as Zoomplayer or KMplayer or others that allow you to use different filters and access them directly then you would be able to just boost the rear channel with software. What type of speakers are you using, which model? I don't like any of Creative's speakers personally. They don't make good speakers, in my opinion. Ever consider just getting new speakers?

Creative Sound Blaster SB5 5.1 Audio speakers,

I bought them from wal mart a couple of years back. It's a cheap 50 / 60 setup. I know I know.
I am in the market for a new setup, but I want this one to work while
I am in the purchasing stages.

The sub is pretty decent, but the sattelite speakers are el cheapo. However it does proclaim 5.1 and I've read problems on this wayyyy back that the rear channels barely get any sound because they are not amped and it was a design / el cheapo flaw.

I am lost.

Hmmm, if they are not amplified It may be impossible to boost them in software using a filter. For example alot of surround sound filters will have individual volume slider for each signal. Using one of these filters you can balance out your system. In your case though I am not sure it would work. I would just throw in thw towel for those and grab a new set. You would be much happier. Even if you could get the money for a entry level set of Logitechs. They are like $60-70 and would do very nice for personal listening. That's my advice....

I'm already on the same level you are.
I'm just having a difficult time deciding what to buy for sound.

Because of this.

A. If i spend $300 on computer audio I would just rather buy a complete setup and use it for everything.

B. Everyone's so biased on speakers it's hard to tell whats right from me and I live in the middle of no where's. I have to rely on what other people say there's no decent retailers in B & M stores for the next 97 miles.

C. I need help. I was interested in Klipsch but the 5.1 setup gets to be really expensive and I do want 5.1 or 7.1 sound. I also want to utilize it for television as well as my computer setup.

I did look into the z 5500's on newegg for 300. They do look sweet but would i really be getting the best for my cash? Or am i better of buying an amp and some home theatre speakers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
