I rarely off my pc, everything is always fine. Today I want to burn some stuff on my CD-rw, Nero smart start was very slow loading up. Found out that my sony cd-rw has change into image recorder. I don't understand that. My DVD-rom is also named "AXV CD/DVD-rom SCSI Cdrom Device". It should be sony DVD-rom and Sony CD-rw. What gives, what really happened?
Both drives are on the Secondary IDE.
I thought that restart could cure the problem, but during booting up, I saw that my Master secondary IDE is missing, and my Slave has changed into a something else. The named is weird, with ...{SW.. cd}WD.. in it. It should be the name/serial of the CD/DVD. What actually has happened? How to fix this? I just hope that the IDE cable is faulty and change that.
I have tested both drives, and even though the Master of the secondary IDE is gone, but the in win explorer, it does register as a DVD-rom. But it does not read any CD I put into it. Same goes with the CD-rw.
the CD-rw is gone from the win explorer.
I can press the buttons, the drives open and close, but that's it. Nothing else I can do.
Changed the IDE cable, still getting the same thing.
in the BIOS:
2nd Master: None
Snd Slave : WN} GD}sw12x17
In XP:
I see a DVD-rom which should be 2nd master, but in BIOS says it does not read. This is weird. The CD-rw should be slave, but it does not show up. but the master which is not registered in BIOS, does show up. But both unusable.
What is wrong?
