I recently tried HDMI audio out via my video card for the first time. I was impressed by the sound quality but then noticed a problem.
Sometimes sound correctly plays through the correct channel but then for no apparent reason the channels get crossed over and sound that should come through the left channel starts playing through the right channel instead. When I enter speaker configuration in windows for my HDMI device to play a test tone the sound is being output randomly through both left and right channels. The test tones also sound inconsistent.
I have entered speaker config in windows and for my receiver to ensure the speaker setup is correct. I have tried another HDMI input on my receiver as well.
I also have DTS Connect surround sound working fine through an optical cable with my Titanium HD sound card so I know my amp and speakers are wired correctly.
I thought I would try HDMI audio out after advice on how DTS 5.1 is lossy and HDMI is loseless.
