i built a computer for a friend and have everything working fine, except the friggin audio. the drivers installed fine, its says its working properly, but i have NO SOUND. when i go to play a file in windows media player, it says i have no sound device installed. WTF??? its working perfectly in the device manager. its onboard audio, on an MSI km4m series. ive tried several drivers, so whats the hell is the problem? btw its windows 98, because hes getting xp from someone in a few months.

Read any of the documantion that came with the mobo. If it doesn't say anything about it there try going to the mobos website and seeing if they have anything there. If you can't do so try and see if there has been any issues like this.

Also make sure the system volume is turned up. Some people have a nasty habit of forgetting about that.
