I had a GeForce 5200 that ran Command & Conquer just fine until I upgraded to C & C Tiberium Wars. I bought a 7600 GS to replace the 5200. I uninstalled the old drivers, shutdown, installed the new card, rebooted, then went to EVGA.com to get the latest drivers. This is the result:

I tried uninstalling the latest drivers and using the ones on the disk. No luck with that.

What now?

do u have similar problems with other games, how about 3dmark? download the lastest patch for C&C3
if that doesn´t work out, check your bios settings, reformat & reinstall windoze

Good point. Let me try another game.

Reinstall Windows? I've never had to do that before when upgrading vid cards.

7600's 7800,s 7900's are having problems with the Newest Nvidia display driver! The driver causes Bsod's sometimes after displaying corrupted video or games...Most of time certain games wont run or are heavily mistextured, including tearing but not always. The 91.31 NvidiaDisplay driver which is an Older driver tends to fix this problem!!!so if you have a 93.71driver installed it could be your problem..All you need to do is install the 91.31XP/2000driver and same for x64Xp pro driver ..this comes straight from Nvidia!!! Affects Nforce 3 and 4 and Am2 550..

Did you use driver cleaner to clean up any traces?
No. I uninstalled via control panel. Where can I find this program?

Edit: I think I found it. $10?

I'm using the driver that came on the disk since the latest ones didnt work. Its 91.47. Doesnt work either. I'll download 91.31 and report the results.

Edit: I ran the install for 91.31 and got an error message. " The Nvidia Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your curent hardware."

I installed Medal of Honor. Same issue as C&C. Downloaded all patches, no change there either. What settings should I check in the bios?

as i have told u before the best bet is to reinstall windoze from scratch.

Could you help me understand why I need to go through countless hours of reinstalling my OS just because I upgraded my vid card. I've upgraded on several several other systems and it never required a reinstall.

If this is the case locate the driver at the site who makes your motherboard..For example MSI ,ABIT,Asus, and so on . Then try this because it sounds like your Xp install is corrupted..Uninstall Video card Driver after you have new Via Board driver downloaded . Remove Vid Driver, Restart Pc and uninstall Via Board driver..After removal of board driver restart then install the new Via driver ....Restart Pc then install Nvidia display driver ..IF this dosnt work then Use the The Xp Cd and reinstall windows on your current version...This will overwrite the system files of XP and will save most files on Hd except for the ADMIN or USERpc folders these will now be New ,Then reinstall all Drivers ,Games, and what ever else you have..I do this about once every 3months and It cleans out the garbage .This dos'nt take as long as a Format and Full install....If all else fails 86the card or borrow someones to test in your Pc:cool:if ya can, Test another card first !!!!!

After trying several drivers I gave up and reformated. The card worked perfectly when I installed the latest drivers right after a clean windows install. Now I have to reload all my other software and hope nothing else causes a conflict.

touché :D

I chose the advanced option and installed each driver individually. The culprit turned out to be a driver named "agp-v3.0" I ran the restore point again and bypassed it when reinstalling the mobo drivers. Seems stable again.

This is getting ridiculous. I installed SP2 and the problem came back. I uninstalled SP2 and it went away. Now what?

no it uses a VIA KT600 chipset, rather old mobo, chances are your problem is related to your mobo, try downloading the latest drivers from VIA website

I've tried all the available mobo drivers. Would switching sides (ati) help any?

ati? it just might, but getting a new mobo would also help
Well, this video card upgrade will probably be the last upgrade this pc will see. It handles all other tasks very well but its obviously end of life when it comes to gaming. I guess that depends on the games though. My 3year old son has his own computer which runs all his preschool games perfectly. Its a P2 433 with 128mb ram, 8 gig hard drive and a 32mb Voodoo. That computer was bad*ss like 15 years ago:p

Anyway, I'll probably just take this card back and hope the ATI drivers are more forgiving. Any recommendations on a comparable card?

goto via arena for the mobo drivers

Would they have newer drivers than Soyo's site?

Have you tried Installing the new driver after SP2 is installed ...Id run SP2 then uninstall old Via 4in1driver and install New 4.53via 4in1driver ,Sp2 somehow messes with the files when it is installed...also the USB on those boards used to cause problems when installing the Video or bus driver 4in1...

If you dont need your USB to run MOUSE or Keyboard disable them in bios ,before you Install 4in1 driver and then reboot .Finally install new Video card Driver ,then reboot.

.if everything is now running good then Renable your USB and install USB driver ,just at one time i had that Mobo running a 6800Oc ..and newcastle 2.2ghz ..The Via drivers usually would install only after Sp2 was installed if i didnt do it that way Sp2 would screw it up some how ...
