I have had this SB Audigy for a little over a year now.

it is the retail SB Audigy 2 ZS.

normal card.

As of this week, it began playing audio, then muting, then playing audio, then muting. so it sounds like someone was changing the mute setting every other second.

I rebooted, thinking its a minor issue. no change.
I reinstalled the driver, no change.

I switched PCI slots, no change.

when I check the driver for it under Device Manager, it says, DRIVER ENABLED, but not started.

I searched google. no one knows how to start a driver.

I made sure it was under system32 folder, which it is.

So, any help?

so the sound is skipping? Is the mute/volume actually toggling/moving (watch the volume meter in the creative control panel) ?

I'd try drivercleanering and reinstalling. also, make sure onboard audio is DISabled in BIOS.
