so finally i built a new box. search all this forum can't find the answer.

i'm running:

AMD64 3700+
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
2gb G.Skill DDR500
2x eVGA 7800 GTX's

i'll start off with a short review, when i put this together and benched it on 3dMark with 1 7800 i scored 8088, which i was pretty happy.

Con - to having sli, i'm still a noob to this whole new world is that i was told i can't have both monitors on. Well that just plan blows IMO.

So now i added a 2nd 7800GTX evga. I score a whooping 8099. Only setting i changed was SLI-multi render, and that didn't make a difference either.

My question is what am i doing wrong?

Drivers? BIOS on motherboard up to date? Silly question but must be asked, is your bridge connector on? Do you have SLI in the BIOS set up right?

-Proxy :)

I want to know if there is a way to setup SLi in the BIOS. My mobo says just plug in the bridge between cards and enable SLi in the Nvidia settings in windows. I don't even break 10K with two 7800GT's and latest drivers. :(

Agreed, the lack of dual monitor support in SLI is retarted.

Did you shut off all of your unnecessary background user applications before starting the test?...it could very well add 1500 to your score. That score seems a little low for two 7800 GTX. I scored 6407 overclocked to 2.4ghz and I have a gig less of ram and 2 6600gt...just for some perspective.

Are those 256mb or 512mb? That will help us determine whether you have a problem or a really huge problem. :D

this is probably dumb question but do you have it enabled in the force ware settings?

If he hadn't enabled SLI then he wouldn't have discovered that it lacked dual monitor support.

- Of course my Bridge conntector is on, the jumper for DUAL is flipped too.

- As for drivers i have the latest for mobo/pcu. BIOS no i don' t how to update my BIOS, how do i go about doing that?

- As for settings in the BIOS everything is set at auto except APETURE, do i need to set that to auto?

- Background crap, that stuff is all off when i benchmark, 1 card i did 8088, 2 cards i did 8090 or something but i remember it was consistant 3 runs.

- i'm running eVGA 7800GTX 256, i'm not that freviolous to get the 512's.

- i have the stupid SLI setting in properties, that's how i found out i can only run 1 monitor, which i find a VERY big turn off about SLI.

Hopefully someone can help me through my problem.

*update*

installed the new 82.12 drivers and my 3dmark from 8090 is up to 9700. guys over at nvidia and 3dmark are saying it's the cpu that is the bottle neck when it comes to 3dmark.

Right now i'm not impressed with SLI, i would never spend the extra $500 for another video card just so i can run quake in high mode with EVERYTHING turned up. Before i had shadows, and AA turned off, now both are on and in messy situations it's still smooth out at 50fps. Maybe it is a big improvement, thank god this card and a discount from a friend. Main reason i wanted pci-e was to rock quad screens. i have 2x 2005FPW's want to pick up two more when i find some more 30% discounts.

try clearing your cmos (change jumper from pin 1/2 to 2/3... should be right near the battery on the mobo)

thats with the pc off, and do if for a about 30sec/60sec i had a problem, couldnt hit over 5k with one 7800 then took the whole thing apart.. then put it back together and cleared the cmos and bam. i got 7k

Not to steal the thread, but how do u tell which way the bridge connector goes on>?

Does it matter?

Cause mine seemed like it could go either way. It works the way it is perfectly, but i just want to know is there a certain way the silkscreened Logos are supposed to face or what>?

i'll try that see if it works. get'n into the box now with this snowboard size vid card sux

I had similar problems as I didn't read the manual, but I didn't realize that I was plugged into the second monitor port on the card and thus when I ran in SLI, it did nothing for me. I moved it to the first monitor port, then I was able to enable "SLI Multi-GPU Rendering". And now my games are absolutely flying. Honest mistake I swear :D

Same thing here, but I had my monitor in the correct port. I just never went into the advanced settings to set the SLI rendering. It was still set on single card, even though SLI was set up properly in forceware and the BIOS.

Once I did that, my scores went from 7932 to 11161. :)

i'm running two lcd's. when it goes to sli mode it goes to one screen. don't think port will help me much
