I'm not quite sure if this would go in here or in the OCing board, but since all there is over there is threads about CPU overclocking, I guess it's here.

Anyway, my little HD3850 doubtfully came "Factory OCd" and it's currently cruising at 688MHz Core and 828MHz Memory, which are apparently the stock speeds.

Now, I'm trying to use ATITool to give it a little tug in speed but even a small change (Setting the core speed to 700MHz, for example) makes the card stop responding, my screen to go glitchy and having to manually reboot.

Now, I know I'm not probably not giving enough information on this, tell me what you need to know and hopefully you'll be able to help me and I'll have nergasms at those 5 or 10 extra frames per second.

Thanks in advance.

Dude, I'm struggling with my X700Pro to get games running smooth and you're not satisfied with the raw power of a 3850?

Hehe, I probably would try the same thing if I got my hands on one :D

What brand card is it? Sometimes the lesser known brands cut on costs by using lower quality memory this is also true for other components of the card, like the components regulating power etc.

Either that or maybe a cooling problem.
