I got a guys laptop - 9890 SAGER

The problem is that I have 2 - SATA HD's and during POST the computer locates and sees the hard drives either both or single setups. I have formatted both using bootdisk, but when I run the WinXP setup it simply never sees the HD. I am not trying to setup a raid array (Drivers) so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Any advice?

check your bios settings, you may not be running them in raid, but in the bios sata might eb set as raid rather than extended IDE or whatever it is called

there is no option for that, Ive been threw the entire thing and even reset to facotry defaults :(

*edit
nevermind it does have ata/raid and I just tried both neither are working properly. Any other ideas?

If the BIOS sees the drives and Windoze does not, then you may well need to load the SATA drivers into the Windoze set up.
Either ..........
Put the divers on a floppy, hit F6 when Windoze setup start, use floppy to install drivers.
A USB floppy drive may well work, it all depends on your BIOS setting.
Or .......
Slipstream the drivers into a copy of Windoze, install as normal.
Windoze should now see your drives.

Luck .......... :D

When installing an OS, I always use only one drive, disconnect everything, printers, card readers, and everything nonessential, that way you are insured a proper drive letter, ie "C", for your OS hd, and Windows won't get confused with too many devices.

I then add each device after windows is installed. Works perfect for me every time
