problem: horizontal lines when ocnnected to tv

i dont know what subject to put this under so i just put it in display since it only happens on my tv.
whenever i connect my computer to my tv through s video out there are always small lines moving horizontally across my screen. what is this and how can i get rid of it? it takes all the enjoyment out of hooking the computer up to the tv.
 
I had this problem last years - turns out that it was interference from my wifi card which was in the slot next to the vid card. Moving it to a different one helped in my case.

It could also be a bad cable.

 
i dont have wifi or anythiny thing so it cant be that, but thanks.
oh, and its not the computer in my sig, i havnt tried it on the tv yet.
 
i just tried it with another video card in the same computer and there were still lines they just diddnt move as fast, help, anyone.
 
Sounds like you might have a ground loop problem. Are your T.V. and your computer hooked up to separate power outlets? You might need something like this.

I've got one of these hooked up and it works 90% of the time (I still get minor interference but it goes away after a couple of minutes).

edit: now that I read your post again you say that the lines move horizontally but mine went vertically up the screen so maybe it's not a ground loop...
 
thanks darth, i found out what it was finally.
i have the computer and my tv and a bunch of other electronical stuff all plugged into the same outlet and its getting some kind of interference from the outlet becuase when i plug the computer into another outlet it doesnt have any interference at all.
