Hi,

Recently formatted and installed XP instead of the previous Win2k. Now my Audigy 2 ZS is not working. I used the creative websites automatic driver update as well as the drivers on the cd, and in the device manager, it says the drivers are correctly installed. However.. i don't get sound anymore. I have checked, and the cables haven't changed at all, all plugged in correctly, and the lights on the speakers are coming on correctly.

This has only happened since running XP. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this as it's getting quite annoying.

-Pete

Remove the card and boot to windows. Shutdown and reinstall the card.

Or better yet:

-delete the drivers
-remove the card
-put the card in an anti-static bag
-send it back to hell from whence it came
-get a real soundcard
:D

I SUPPOSE the audiogy ZS is good for gaming, if you're into that sorta thing.....

Heh...I'm getting mine or HTPC. ;) That and Klipsch Pro Medias and I'm set with some THX lovin. I just keep wondering how I talked my wife into allowing me to spend $450 on speakers...heh. :p

The help files that come with your drivers have stuff on this. As well, if you're using the analog outs I'd check whether you have "digital output only" activated by hitting the little red cross above the master volume in the surround mixer and making sure that "digital output only" is unchecked. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is that somehow your speaker cables have fallen out or something, and you should recheck to make sure they're in the right holes.

Oh, and Zemo, the Audigy 2 ZS is fine for playback, and definately the most feature-rich soundcard out there for the price. Sure, recording can be a pain, and it doesn't have $90 DAC's, but if you want a Lynx 2 or an 1820M you're talking way more than $100. For anyone who's not a rabid audiophile or does recording, it's fine.

I had tons of problems in my system out of audigy and live cards.

Gave up. Bought a Fortissimo III off ebay. happy+++

Personally I think people are harder on the Audigy 2 line than it deserves. Try X86's suggestion, a clean uninstall and reinstall might do it.

I'm not foaming at the mouth YET! :D

seriously though, I find it hard to tolerate the audigy line's mushy/sloppy bass end and lack of detail up top....and yes, I know the audigy cards are more feature rich....where do you think they spend all that money you pay them? CERTAINLY not on the analog and DAC section!

And no, Im not even talking about a Lynx2 or emu 1820 or anything...I don't need 18 inputs, just something that sounds good! So far, my Echo Miamidi ($150) has really hit the spot...gonna mod it and see if I can get a little more juice out of it.

I couldn't tolerate the audigy's recording cababilities either...quite poor.

maybe stop recording everything with levels on full.......seems too many of you do that and expect it to be better quality.I've never had a problem on any Creative sound card recording because they are recorded properly.Simple as that.

I should rephrase that. The Audigy 2 ZS works fine for recording as long as you do everything at 16/48 and don't mind the fact it only comes with one line-in and one mic-in for the normal version.
