I am trying to put together a basic system for my son
bought a cheap ECS 945GZT-M

2sticks kingston 533DDR2 already had
8500 GT EVGA card
350 Antec PSU Brand new and checked

Board does not even turn on
is board problem or cpu incompatable?
CPU is E2140 SLA93 stepping m0
ECS web says board supports L2 stepping
I am having a problem finding a 533 ddr board that supports 2140 stepping m0
micro atx
Help!

head to the mobo's site and download a bios update and apply it. if ur lucky it will work(dunno anything about ECS), if not then you'll have to find a P965 board at least

if the board doesn't even power up, he can't update the bios.

Does your case have a speaker? If so, did you connect the speaker plug to the mobo? If yes, are you getting any beeps?

Even with an incompatible CPU, it should still power up the fans, HDD, etc.. you just won't get a display. Most likely, it's a dead board if you've already ensured your PSU is working and everything is connected correctly.

probably dead board even with onboard video nothing, cleared cmos etc
I know the ram is good it came from a working machine. I will RMA back to EGG.
