Out of the blue I cannot connect. I have 2 clients running on my 3.0ghz HT Intel CPU. The other client connects just fine.

Have you tried to use the -sendall flag? That helped with me. dunno what was the problem though.

I seem to be getting that too. I just shut it down, was a few moments, then start it back up and that, more often than not, seems to fix the problem.

Server 181 is up but fairly well loaded down.
So unless your is slow and your right near the dead line just let it try at its own speed.
It trys every 3 hours to upload it and the more times you try to force the upload the more load you put on the server.
If the server goes down then you have to wait for Stanford toeither fix it or set up a collection server to take the work units.

Ps. Uploads are ok, it not being able to download a work unit that sucks.

Luck ............ :D

Yeah, as long as you keep getting new work, I wouldn't stress about it too much.

I have 2 completed WUs in que and it wont download any new ones.
I will try the sendall flag when I get home.
Can I copy the files over to the other client to upload? if so what files?
In the meantime I have turned off HT since only 1 client is folding now.

Have you upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 ?
If so and you were useing Internet Explorer 6's settings then you need to set folding NOT to use Internet Explorer 7 settings.

Have you upgraded and/or changed your firewall ?

Have you upgraded and/or changed the folding client ?

3 reasons I can think of why you cannot connect and download/upload work.

Luck ............... :D

They are set to not use IE settings.
About 3 weeks ago I installed a wireless router that I go thru. It has been working thru the router fine till now.
The client hasnt been changed.

I tried connecting directly to my cable modem bypassing the router Still wont connect to assignment servers. Tried installing to a new folder and got the same error. Set the firewall to open and even disabled it but no go. My laptop connects with no problems thru the wireless router. so its not the router..

Well I got it partly working!! You wont believe this but I had to say YES to use IE settings with IE7. Now I can connect to the Assignment server but still cannot connect to the Collection servers.

Say what?! Something is not right there.

Are you running through a router, and if so, do you have an option like 'Filter Proxy' enabled? Though this wouldn't really explain the random unconnecting. Perhaps the server is heavily loaded?

I think that's what is happening with mine, the server that hands out the 5-way melts is getting hammered lately.

Shown is the failed attempts to connect to anything then the -config change to IE settings YES then the connection to the AS server. I still cannot send the completed ones in queue.

That's a good thing--those things give lousy ppd... :)
