I just baught a 74 gig SATA raptor, and had some issues putting XP on it. I had to unplug my current 2 WD 80's, and install then. When I plugged the HD's back in, windows wouldn't boot. It would hang after it tried to boot from CD.

My mobo is an A7N8X Deluxe Rev. 2.0

So I'm flashing my motherboard bios, I figured it mgiht help. But I'm stupid. I kept both drives plugged in when I went to flash, so It wouldn't let me copy the ASUS flash program to my HDD from my bootdisk. So I ranit from the floppy. Now, the computer is sitting in the flash program, saying not to turn off the computer or anything, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. The curser is blinking tho.

I really have no clue what to do right now. I'm looking back at all my mistakes, thinking I'm stupid.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: The flash thing is now taken care of.

I've unplugged my two IDE drives, and booted fine into windows. I'm wondering what I need to with jumpers on these damn drives. I dunno what to do about the boot order int he bios either. There is no option to boot from like SATA or anything, so I have it going to HDD 0... But as soon as I plug in the IDE drives, it won't boot anymore. What should I have the jumpers set to on each drive? I really don't know what the hell the jumper on the SATA drive is for. Help please

i am having the same dam problem.. stupid bios i tell u.. wont let us pick sata as main boot drive.. somehow i manage to attach 4 ide hdds with the sata as boot.. just took my cd rom drives and put in on my controller card.. ide's boot fine off of the regular mobo ide controllers.. just remember to have the jumper settings right.. now if someone can help me with attaching my ide's to my controller card and get windows to boot.. that would be awesome..

Got it working. I found that setting my 3rd boot device to SCSI booted off SATA with the two IDE drives plugged in. My 1st and 2nd boot devices are disabled, but you should be able to set them to something if you like. Hope this helps.
