1stly, i posted here because i thought it would be ram-related...

okay, so i boot up my computer and it turns on, yada yada yada until windows trys to load... tries...
it hangs at the screen where it says "Windows is starting up"
safe mode does the same...


help plzplzplzplzplzplzplz :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

it has been getting slower and slower at booting up.


if this is the case then you have a letter wrong. it is not ram but rom.

bull$#*!. it happened to my p1 75mhz packard bell 402cd. i got rid of that thing when it couldn't even read the floppy anymore. that's why mom upgraded to a used p1 90mhz comp.
 
Have you tried running memtest86? If you haven't, you should.

Can you boot from a windows xp CD and get to recovery console? If you can, you should run the "chkdsk /r" command.
