Hey guys I'm currently helping a friend getting his setup up and running. The problem is when two 6 pin PCI-E connections are connected to the GTX 260, the cpu fan won't spin at all and the graphics card doesn't spin at all. When I connect one 6 pin to the GTX, the cpu fan will spin but the CD drive won't open nor does the GTX 260 fan spin. So in both cases it's a both no go for the GTX fan and the cpu fan only when one 6 pin is connected. Am i missing a connection or not getting enough power or something?

Have you checked the voltages on the PSU using a multimeter? Theres a chance its defective. Also check to see if maybe its a problem with the mobo not initializing the videocard. If so, you may want to see if maybe your mobo is throwing a post code.

How would i go about to see if my mobo is throwing a post code? Thanks!

something could be wrong with the PSU, is it new?

Yes its brand new, so it could be a problem with just the PCI-E plugs in general? Everything else seems to be getting power just not the card or in my case it will be the cpu fan and no card or no card and no cpu fan.

I just looked at your board and it doesn't have an LED post code indicator, so we have no idea whats going on with your board.

Damn this is the first time i'd have to deal with a gtx 260 and i find it weird how with 2 6 pins the CD-rom will open, but when theres only 1 6 pin the CD-rom won't open and the cpu fans spins. Guess i'll just have to check my wiring?

try testing the PSU in another system, if the PSU is fine then the problem would be the mobo
