Problem backing up DVD w/ DVD-Shrink

i wanted to make a back up copy of one of the dvds i own so i downloaded dvd-shrink to do so.. everything worked fine until it asked me to insert a blank dvd.. i put in a memorex dvd-r recordable and it said disc in drive unrecognizable.. i tried a few of them so it wasn't an issue with one signle cd.. any ideas why?

Are the blank DVDs compatible with your DVD recorder? Post the specs of the blank media and the specs of your DVD burner.

I was tempted to tell you to turn the disc over.
I agree with M11, however. I believe that your burner doesn't like the media. If so, it isn't a DVDShrink issue.

DVD-R media is not compatible with a +R recorder. You must buy +R media for your recorder.

thanks, as i was typing in the info it hit me this was the problem, i just wanted confirmation i was right..

You could always get a new drive, especially if you have a lot of -R media that you do not want to throw away.
