Okay everything is hooked up, now when i try to startup the computer, i can't see anything, it's like theres no power going to my pci x16 mobo slot. I hooked up the extra power cord to the vid card as needed. At first i thought it was vid card broken, so i tried antoher pci 16x vid card and still not working. Any clue whats the problem? do you guys think the mobo is dead? i see lights on and everyhthing working. It's a DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra.

Any water on the MB? Reseat your card(s), check all power connection to drives and MB, did you move the CPU?

no water on MB ever, yes i tried putting in and out the cards, i even tested with a 7800 GTX air cooled, i only have one power thing from the power supply connected to motherboard, and move my CPU? i don't think i moved it, but i have no hard drive hooked up at the moment, ij ust wanted to check the temps of the processor , make sure that the thermal paste is on right

however i did find that the aquagra 6800 fx was screwed on too tight and was bending the card, could it of possibly bend the pci slot too making it not work?? i fixed it by loosening the screws. But even though i tried 7800 gtx on that same slot and still no go

do i need a hard drive connected to see something on the screen?

What about the 4 pin power connector going to the MB? Sounds like you don't have it plugged in.

yeah i didn't have it plugged in, time to test THANKS TOP NURSE!!! your the bestest!

is it the four pin connector that is rectangular? or the one that is square shaped? i plugged in the rectangular into the mobo, still a nogo :=(

The 4 pin connector that is square has to be plugged into the MB or the video usually won't work...lights on, but nobody home ;) I think on your board it is located near the memory slots. The rectangular 4 pin connector I think is for the SLI juice.

The square 4 pin is right next to the 24 pin ATX power connector. That has to be plugged in. The rectangular by the PCI slots only needs to be plugged in if you're running dual video cards.
The 2 different connectors are circled.

yep i had the four pin connector plugged in i will unplug the 4 pin rectanglur one i don't have dual vid cards, but it still doesn't work

Clear the CMOS and unplug battery for a few minutes. Plug battery back in and startup.

I dont think you've said if all your components spin up. Do the fans start spinning and the hard drives power up?

Also, doesn't that motherboard have a set of diagnostic LEDs that can tell you what's wrong?

i would say not having a hard drive in may be your problem, but i have never tried to power a computer up without all the components installed

The motherboard should at least be able to POST and search for boot devices, even without a hard drive present.

yeah it was the processor, turns out that i didn't lock the processor in , u know the little grey lever u lift and lock with hehe, so it's all fixed now

Doh! It happens to the best of us...

it's just probelm after problem for me, now the video card is dead, i tried testing if other vid card worked on it and it did, theres no mroe green light on the 6800 =( , i think the aquagra 6800 screws killed it lol

Sounds like you did not use the rear bracket from the stock cooler. That bracket should help avoid the bending caused by overtightening the screws.

anyway to fix this or do i have to get my 3 year warranty on this ?

Warranty...assuming you can restore it to look like stock again. Though there are some ethical considerations about this which you will have to decide about.

sigh... only one problem is that i have drilled holes into the face plate :(, i think i have to buy a 2 piece face plate somewhere., anyone have any clue where to get these? i need a dual dvi face plate, hehe do u think drilled holes in the face plate cover will void the warranty? The thing is it's doubled i have a 6800 GTO looks like this

Except mine has holes drilled in it hehe. is there a special name for these other than Face Plates? i tried googling it can't find anythingg

Why did you drill holes in it and how big are they? Probably wouldn't void the warranty unless they figure the metal chips fried your board from drilling it.

Is this your first custom built computer? lol

btw, you've probably voided the warranty on the vid card because of your modifications. good luck

yeah, i'm trying to replace the I/o Backplate, or i'm going to dremel the other half with the holes, but everything else is back to old stock shape, old fans/heatsinks are installed. I already within the past 2 months replaced my motherboard /processor/powersupply in my dell computer throughthe warranty lol

i drilled it wayyyyy before, long time ago maybe 6 months ago. It just stopped working when i put in the aquagra 6800

Did you get any thermal compound on the circuit board of the video card?

hehe yeah i did, but i used cofee filters and alcohol to clean it off

I would take the aquagra 6800 off and put the stock one back on the see if it starts working again. Maybe some metal on the waterblock is touching some thing on the card it shouldnt be

dude... you need to be more careful when working with expensive computer parts. Your making some sloppy mistakes that could F*** your expensive equipment up! What kind of compound did you use?

i already tried that, stil not working, there is no power going through the card at all, no green light, so the stock fan won't even spin
