Do Barton Core AMD XP's unlock themselves after a certain number of weeks, or am I just reading wrong?

Are you asking that if you have it for a certain number of weeks it unlocks? No it does not....:eek:

As far as I knew all Barton's were unlocked except for maybe the newer ones.
 
yeah dude, the mobo cant unlock the cpu... locking is a physical process of blocking a bridge on your cpu, so no software can unlock it...

by the way Gunter, thanks for your post on my rig (im the south american guy). I went for the sapphire, Newegg has it for $239...

Ahh, I get it now, I know you have to cross the L2 Bridges. I knew the motherboard couldnt do it, I dont know what I was thinking, whatever ;-) I was just getting confused.. heh
 
Not the newer barton chips. Prior to week 39 the Nforce2 boards would unlock them. Post week 39 nothing unlocks them. At least nothing that I have seen.

I can confirm this, as my asus a7n8x is unable to change the multiplier on the barton 2500+ I got. I don't know which week it is, but I'm sure it's past week 39(since I got it in like, december).
 
Same with mine

Multiplier is locked, A7N8X no help, FSB overclocking is faster anyways
