Privacy filter

I am thinking of getting a 3M privacy filter for my matte/ips monitor at work.

Anything I should be aware of before I buy this? Will it make text much harder to read for me on my screen? I assume it won't interfere much?

Any kind of filters at all: Lower IQ overall

My wife uses a 3M filter - forget which one, gold one. She loves it for travel on the laptop as it keeps things private for work environments. Straight on you cannot even really tell it is there.

Honestly...I can't stand those things and cringe at employees that have them. They darken the display making it hard to read text and usually are dust, fingerprint and glare magnets.
