Printer won't show up - any ideas?

I'm running an ASUS K8T800 SE Deluxe with an AMD64 3400+.

I have a slightly old HP Deskjet 882C printer that uses the parallel port. Before I upgraded to the 64-bit mobo/cpu combo, it worked fine in my ABIT IS7/P4 2.4ghz. Now, I plug the parallel cord into the mobo and nothing in Windows comes up saying it installed/is installing the printer. I tried it manually and the same thing. The printer is on but XP can't recognize it. Any ideas?
