Not sure if this should be on this board or not....I'm looking for a printer/scanner/copier/fax, what would you recommend? Budget is like $400 absolute max. I see some let you put your digicam mem. card in them, this a good feature? Open to anything right now, thanks a lot.

HP PSC2410. It's photo quality, has memory card slots, and does scanning and faxing as well. They go for around $225 to $250. I've used 2 of them in person, and they are VERY nice.

Thanks. A question about printers in general - I use an OLD computer (like 5 years old), it does what I need it to. Does the speed/power of a computer effect the printer in any way? I never really thought it would, but am curious. I'm assuming these all connect via USB now? Thanks.

That particular one I believe has a parallel port connection as well. Check the documentation on it. The speed of the computer has very little effect on the actual printer. It may take a few seconds longer to spool the file before sending to the printer, but once the printer has the data, it's independent of the computer.

Thanks again. After looking at a bunch at Best Buy (I have a big gift card to use), I think it's between these two: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...65844&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01017 and the one you mentioned http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...07871&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01017 .

The main differences seem to be:

-Tray load vs. built-in
-21ppm vs. 19ppm
-Single pass vs. multi-pass scanning
-Mem. card reader vs. none
-One has more software

Both are the same $300. Software is undoubtedly worthless. Scanning wouldn't be used that much. 21 vs. 19 is nothing. What's the advantages/disadvantages of tray load vs. built in paper feed? Make a difference? So basically it comes down to whether I want mem card reader or not. And since they are the same price anyways, I'm leaning to the 2410.

The question to ask yourself is how important is Photo printing? I do some photoprinting, so having the 2410 would benefit me more. Same with the card slots. You may not need photo printing, or have a separate photo printer. In that case maybe the other one is the best one. My vote would be for the 2410, because it's truly an all in one. But your needs may be different.

True true. I think the 2410 is what I want. It will be my photo printer, so having the card reader will be nice. Thanks for the advice.
