I have a serious Lexmark printer problem. I have a lexmark X73 all-in-one and when i try to install any type of drivers, old or new, onto my XP Home PC, all hell breaks loose. The printer fails to recognize the computer and vice verse. I went through, step-by-step, the directions to manually install the drivers onto the computer but the directions themselves seemed half-assed and they ended up not working. I tried talking to tech support but became more confused. The connection is USB. Basically, the driver/printer seems to require that some proprietary print confirmation screen be used when printing form any type of software and this is where the problem arises. This screen that it reaches after attempting to print from anything including notepad, IE, and Works Cited, seems to freeze every single time. Any suggestions at all?
 
try different printer cables? or usb cables if thats what you're using

get another printer?

personally, i dont like all in one printers unless its in a environment where space is crucial... i dont like it because if one thing breaks, then its annoying cus the other parts still work

i just stick to the basics, very basic basic printer... BJC-210 and a BJ-100, both Canons... they're old but very very simple... just printer cable, power cable, and i just check up on ink every now and then and refill it if i gotta cus those cartridges (BC-02) are really easy to refill if you know what you're doing

keep trying customer service tho, they're designed to help you so if they're ineffective, i would yell at them or complain about it
