Printer Problem

I installed a Compaq A1500 printer onto a computer that recently was upgraded from 98se to XP. So, i went to Compaq's website and downloaded the lastest driver. On the printer's lcd screen, it says the ink is low and to replace immediately. So i install a new cartridge, and the message is still there! Apparently it used to work fine on 98se even with low ink message, but its not running right on XP. What else should i try to do?
