printer printing half page only?

i am using an old Canon BJC255SP but recently there are 2 VERY big prob wi th my printer

1) when i printer what ever document, it will be printed full but shrink to fit into half of my A4 paper only. I am sure i changed the scale to A4 option but it doesn't work. I don't think its software prob coz i had reinstalled the driver and even test it on different computer but still same prob.

2) Then my catridge BC03 black catridge when i wanna print, it will prompt error saying that they detected my catridge as a photo catridge and i must change setting to photo quality to print my document. But indeed my catridge is just a normal one and i have been printing on normal setting for years. I even test the catridge on different computer with a different printer but still detect the catridge as a photo catridge. This prob force me to print my assignment with massive ink until the words are visible on both side. Btw incase..... photo quality printing cannot change to economy printing.

check all over the printer for small tabs that may change settings. I think Canon was good for this on their BJC series of printers. There is one on the carriage for the ink cartidge on mine that adjusts it for envelope, letter, A4, etc... yours may have something similar.

if that doesn't work, and you've d/l new drivers (if available) and played with all the settings, it almost sounds like the logic board in the printer went loopy.
 
i don't c any button on the printer physically

i don't think something is wrong with the setting of the printer coz i had reinstalled the printer driver many times. Btw i am using driver for BJC1000sp on my BJC255sp. There is any possible harm to it? But it works previously. thanks.
 
no harm should come from the wrong driver, maybe missing or malfunctioning features though.

have you tried it on another computer? does it have two buttons on the top? if so, (and i remember right) then you should be able to do a test page from the printer without being on a computer. try holding the page feed button while turning it on, after the lights flash two or three times let go of the buttons and a test page should start.
 
yes i had tried it on other computer but still the same prob.

yes the printer is with 2 buttons on the top. i will try ur method to do the test page.thanks
