Print Drivers Not Installing

I'm installing a CanoScan LiDE 70 on Windows 7 64 build with an AMD processor. I've tried from the disc, from freshly downloaded drivers from Canon and the computer can't seem to find them. I've tried pointing the computer to the drivers and they're even hard for me to find. When I install drivers from the cd I get the error message that the drivers have to be installed manually. Plus every usb port I use to reinstall initially recognizes the scanner, then after the drivers fail to install that usb port no longer recognizes the scanner is plugged into. I'm running out of usb ports. Is there a way to reset the usb ports back to default? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Urgh. I found it. It just does not work with Wn7 64 builds. I can try using it with virtual box or virtual xp, but even my xp64build would not install it so I dunno. From what I read, the driver is a TWAIN driver-

"I have the same issue, here's what I know:

1. The driver provided for these older lide units is a TWAIN driver
2. TWAIN is not supported in th edefault Windows fax and scan app bundled with Windows Vista and beyond (inc 7) and therefore another application is required that supports TWAIN (I use Irfanview)
3. Unfortunately the driver has never been ported to 64-bit by canon, so you also need a new driver. I've yet to come across one and have spent many hours looking along with a colleague.

Good luck, if you find a 64 bit driver let me know, these are great scanners and it's a shame they're not supported."

Ouch. Yeah I had the same problem with one of my older scanners as well.
