Is it ok to run the latest version of Prime95 on a i7 7700k to test the temperatures and overclocking ability ?
 
Be careful when enabling AVX on Haswell and newer Intel chips. The temperatures can become unrealistically hot. As in, you won't see them in the real-world under any testing scenario, ever. If you see your temps getting extreme, disable AVX in Prime95 and don't worry about it not "fully" testing your CPU.

For reference: AVX raises the voltage. It's like your'e over-volting your CPU in a sense.
