Ok so i was running a torture test on my cpu with prime95 (the middle one that test some memory) and before the first test was over, 3 of the workers failed.

i then reset the test to the one that uses the least amount of memory tested and so far, the test has been running for 25 minutes with no fail, so im assuming my memory is what caused the test to fail.

i downloaded memtest86 but wasnt sure how to use it. please help!!

Edit***
ok figured out memtest.. the test failed but it does not specify where it failed (which those of you who are not nubs would know =D)
So now this is my questions:
what should i fix considering i havent done anything to the ram (i.e. overclock) and all the settings are factory matched

ALSO

my core is OC to 3.0 Ghz. after 25 min of torture test, temps were pretty solid at 48-50C
are those good? and if i go to 3.8 what temps would be ok for me to see? also will i damage the core by running it at 3.8 if its properly cooled (i.e. will its life span decrease and by how much?)

I would replace your memory. I recently had a very similar problem where prime95 would run just fine if I ran the test that tests little memory, but workers would fail within minutes if I tried either of the tests that test some or lots of memory. I RMAd my ram and the replacement set worked just fine. Before I RMAd it, I tried everything that I could think of. That includes changing every voltage that you can think of, changing memory timings, changing cpu multiplier, changing divider, and everything else. My experience leads me to think that your memory is bad. I tried memtest and it never found any problems, but every single time that I used prime95 to run that cursed blend test, the workers would start to fail pretty quick.

update your intel chipset drivers. I couldn't for the life of me get my ram to do anything right. It is 1333 DDR3 7-7-7-24 @ 1.5v and the best I could do was 1333 8-8-8-24 @ 1.8v. I updatied my chipset drivers to try to fix something else and then when I went back to fidgeting wit the memory, everything was working perfectly.

first since it is overclocked.. do you have the ram overclocked as well? or do you still have them running at their rated speed?

the ram is running at 1500, but the freezing issue hasn't happened since the over clock, which happened all the time before without the OC

ok so im new to this whole overclocking thing so be patient with me plz =)

I just changed the BCLK to 166 so my processor's clock is 3.3 GHZ
I set the RAM to x8 multiplier so the frequency is still at 1333 roughly. no voltage changes or anything.

currently running prime95

My questions are:
would it be better to leave the ram at x10 multiplier, set the bclk to 160 and try to get it stable at 1600 MHz while moving the core clock to 3.2? if so would i simply have to increase the voltage to make the ram stable or would i have to mess with timings?
