Prime95 is solid until I run 3D

I've been testing Prime 95 on my 170 and it is solid - stable over 24 hrs. However, my next test was to see how it ran while 3D was going. Guess what? Fatal errors not long after starting 3d. I ran some of NVIDIA's 3D demos while prime was running on each core plus another on "blend" mode. This crashes prime, but no 3D is fine.

The only thing I can think might be the problem is a temp increase but monitoring this shows no increase....

Any other possiblities?
 
It's best to run 2 instances of Prime95, one with the small FFT option, and one with the blend option. If you're hyperthreading or dualcore, this will tax the cpu to the max. If there's any instability at all with the phsyical CPU or RAM or their clocks, this WILL find it.

My guess is that you're probably not testing your RAM enough. The game/3D is more memory intensive, and that's likely when it's giving out. Loosen your RAM timings or increase your divider ratio.

If it's only crashing durring a certain 3d game, it may just be a driver issue.
 
Actually I run 3 instances, one for each core under the large FFT, and then 1 under blend.

I think it is memory related. I thought my divider was set to 1/2 (for testing), but was really 1/1. Changed to 1/2 and no more issues so I feel better about the cpu now.
