i really need a second opinion here...first of all..my 2 years old pc...
p4 3.0e @ 3.8 1.4375v 254fsb
Gigabyte PCU22-VG Heatsink
Asus p4p800se
4 X 512 KVR ram @ 203mhz 5:4 divider (2.5,3,3,6)
xfx 7800gs
550watt Atrix
i've been using this setting for about 2 month now without a single problem 24/7..not even a bsod...gaming (TOCA 3, GRAW, SCCT, Fear, RBR), encoding videos,(de)compresing gigabyte of data without a problem...i'm mostly gaming for about 2 -3 hours, except for GRAW which can last 4 - 6 hours because its so freaking hard...i've also benchmark using 2 x prime95 before for about 12 hours, 6 hours of memtest without a problem
The problem is this...last sunday..with a lot of free time to spare..i'm into benchmarking again...but by using 3 program simultaneously..prime95, mainconcept mpeg encoder (batch encode) and rthdribl 1.2...and out of my expectations, prime95 fails after 30 minutes...temp is 60c load...which i think is not so bad for a crappy heatsink..prime95 shows error..but mpeg encoder and rthdribl still working....i thought maybe its just a glitch so i benchmark again and for the second and the third time..prime95 will show error exactly in 30 minutes...
the real dilemma is...should i keep this setting knowing that prime95 fail even i've been using this pc without a single problem or try to solve the problem and live happily ever after.?....is prime95 fails really shows that your pc is somehow unstable..? any opinion is appreciate..thanks..
