Primary Partition?

Is it safe to delete (and then re-create) a primary partition while re-installing windows or should we refrain from deleting the primary partition and instead do it's formatting?
 
Yup

When I do a fresh install, the first thing I do is fdisk the bugger and nuke everything there. You don't even need to recreate the partition (you can if you want), the windows installer will prompt you to create one if one isn't detected.
 
It's perfectly safe to do this, but if you can just format the partition, do so :)
