I assume I can't go wrong with either card (216) or (1gb) @ 1920x1080. What I'm wondering is, since I hardly follow current news, why the price drop for the 260? (XFX for $170 amir). The 4870 price seems to have dropped a bit as well (Sapphire @ 190), but no mir for the most popular cards.

I'm currently gaming with my 3300 igp, not a big deal for L4D, but I would like to get a new gpu after selling my 3870. Should I be waiting for something, or go ahead and jump in?

4890 should be out next month

But 249USD for something that is a OC edition of 4870 512MB and around 300USD for the maditory 1GB version anybody above 22" needs, no thank you.
Wait for GTX275 if anything before you go for overpriced 4890 aka 4870 OC-edition.
Specs of 4890 are very dissapointing for those that thought it was something else.

Ye, I've also heard that the gtx 275 will have 240 sp's with 448bit bus but they could just lower the price of the gtx 280/285 to the $270 range to annihilate the 4890 sales or atleast combat them easier.

At least let them release the card before you start throwing it back in their faces.

he's been trolling this, don't know why he giving numbers out. and at least they are sticking to the naming scheme, not rebranding

I guess I should mention that I'm looking at staying under $200 for either card, which they both currently meet except the 260 just got a nice price reduction.

So I'm assuming with the release of the 4890 we'll possibly see another price drop? It just seems like all the mir for the 4870's dried up in the last 2 weeks.

edit: looking just on newegg

Well, the XFX 260 I was looking at just went back up to $250 before rebate, making it more expensive than the black edition. t

Thanks for the link.

I ended up ordering the XFX from ZZF for $170 amir. It just seems like the prices have been all over the place the last 2 weeks or so. And 3 weeks seems like forever just to see if the 4890 forces some price drops.

Question: I'll be running this on my monitor and tv, which have hdmi. Can i run dvi-hdmi on both or just one?

Specs(just 4870 OC, nothing more. 850 core, 975 mem for regular and 950? core for 1GB OC edition) but no more shader), price( 199-249 for standard 512MB edition, 300USD for 1GB OC edition) has been out for a bit now and are confirmed now when it has been exposed that THE rumor are true.
The only one that don´t belive it are the one that expected mutch more and belived the rumor of something new now and you have to know what to look for to even see the difference 4870/4890.

http://www.ocheaven.com/news_view.asp?gid=6754( some grain of salt but don´tt take to mutch notis of the shitty CPU-bench 3dmark06)

This is also rebranding as it dont ad anything worth the hassle uppgrading for besides a 8-pin PCIe powerconnector but the way economics are this was just way too expected when the market took a dive down 42%.

Any answers?

The only thing I care about the 4890 is if it'll mean a price drop on the 4870.
