I want to buy this card(ATi 5770) but don’t want to spend more than $150.00 for this card, so if you see a great buy on this card PLEASE post it here. I did see a site that had it for $140.00 plus free shipping but sadly I missed that deal. Without waiting months can we find another great deal?

Thanks,

Anandtech's review says it's not worth more than $130 given its actual performance versus the 4870 and GTX260. I wouldn't touch it for more than $130 shipped, personally. Better off waiting to see if AMD releases a 5830 or 5790 that offers similar hardware but with a 256-bit bus, creating a card that has the bandwidth to put out better performance when AA is turned on and graphical details are Full/High, which is how people expect to be able to play the games they buy. FiringSquad's review also noted the bandwidth limitation of the 5770 and concurred that is what is hurting performance when running games at actual gaming settings as opposed to mediocre settings w/o AA that some sites use for benchmark purposes.

+1 not worth the $160+

I'm with you there. As I said in the other thread, (a) they have yet to ramp up production, the cards are still have relatively low availability (in the UK at least), so why not sell low volumes at inflated prices? (b) until the advent of widely available, cheap 2Gb ram chips, the cards are going to be more expensive to produce than it should be, so the price may be justifiable in terms of production cost/profit if not in terms of performance and (c) AMD really needs the money right now, good on em!

I'd say there are users to whom they're suited, even at current pricing. E.g. the guy who wanted a new card for his GF who only played games like Sims 3. Nice quiet card, directx 11, low power consumption etc. Not for me though.

After doing a more in depth research the 5770 needs to be priced around $120.00 since a XFX 4870 can be had for $144.00 with free shipping and the performance is 15% higher. Thanks for the responses though.

just wait till supplies of 4000s run out. Then the price is the price and there is no alternative.(from ATI at least)

Yeah, the HD 5770 is currently priced so that most people would rather choose the better performing HD 4870 at a lower price point than the HD 5770. It the smart thing to do to basically move "obsolete" stock.

Could just buy the 5750 and OC to the level of 5770 if price is that important. Most seem to level out around 5770 levels. $129

For over clocking the HD5770 is looking better than HD5750.

MSI Afterburner 1.3 has software voltage control for HD5770. Not for HD5750.
